Effective July 24, 2026.
1. Program description
CFEC Representative Messaging is a customer care messaging service operated by Central Florida Electric Cooperative, Inc. (“CFEC,” “we,” “us,” “our”). It allows a CFEC employee — a lineman, service technician, or member services representative — to exchange text messages with a member about work on that member's service and account, from a CFEC business telephone number rather than the employee's personal mobile phone.
Messages under this program are limited to:
- Crew and technician arrival and en-route notices for work at your service address
- Service appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and confirmation
- Questions about access to your property, meter, or equipment
- Follow-up on a service request or work order you have opened
These are conversational messages. You may reply to them and the same CFEC employee will receive your reply. This program does not send marketing or promotional messages, and does not send automated broadcast messages.
2. Relationship to the CFEC Text Alerts outage service
CFEC Representative Messaging is a separate service from CFEC Text Alerts, and requires a separate opt-in.
CFEC Text Alerts is an automated broadcast alert service that sends outage notifications, restoration updates, storm alerts, planned maintenance notices, and cooperative news from 352-493-2511. It is operated for CFEC by TextPower and has its own terms and its own sign-up, available at cfec.com or by texting CFEC to 352-493-2511.
Opting in to CFEC Representative Messaging does not enroll you in CFEC Text Alerts, and opting in to CFEC Text Alerts does not enroll you in CFEC Representative Messaging. You may be enrolled in one, both, or neither. Opting out of one does not opt you out of the other.
3. How to opt in
You may enroll a mobile number in this program by:
- Completing the sign-up form on this website, entering your mobile number and checking the consent box; or
- Giving express consent to a CFEC representative in person, in writing, or by telephone, after the disclosures in this section are read or provided to you.
The consent checkbox on the sign-up form is unchecked by default and must be checked affirmatively. Consent is not a condition of purchase and is not required in order to receive electric service from CFEC. You may not enroll a mobile number that does not belong to you or that you are not authorized to enroll. You must be at least 18 years of age, or have the permission of the account holder, to enroll a number.
After you opt in you will receive a confirmation message:
4. How to opt out
You may cancel at any time. Reply STOP to any message you receive under this program. You may also reply END, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE, or OPTOUT. After you send one of these keywords we will send a single confirmation message and then no further messages will be sent to that number under this program.
You may also opt out using the opt-out form on this website, by calling (352) 493-2511 or (800) 227-1302, or by visiting any CFEC office.
Opting out of this program does not opt you out of CFEC Text Alerts (the outage service). To stop those, reply STOP to a message from 352-493-2511 or follow the instructions in the CFEC Text Alerts terms.
Opting out of text messages does not affect your electric service, your bill, or any other way CFEC may contact you. Notices required by law or by your service agreement will still be delivered by mail, telephone, or email.
5. How to get help
Reply HELP to any message, email support@cfec.com, or call (352) 493-2511.
6. Message frequency
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on whether CFEC is currently performing work on your service. In a month with no service activity on your account you will typically receive no messages at all. During an active service request or scheduled work you may exchange several messages in a day with the representative handling it.
7. Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. CFEC does not charge for this program, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply to every message you send to or receive from us. Contact your carrier for details about your plan.
8. Originating numbers
Messages under this program originate from CFEC business telephone numbers assigned to individual employees. They do not originate from 352-493-2511 — that number is used for the CFEC Text Alerts outage service. They do not originate from employees' personal mobile numbers.
If you receive a message from someone claiming to be CFEC and you are unsure whether it is genuine, do not reply. Call (352) 493-2511 and ask.
9. Supported carriers and delivery
This program is supported by the major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and their affiliates and resellers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to effective transmission by your wireless carrier and is not guaranteed.
Text messaging is not a substitute for reporting an outage or an emergency. In an emergency call 911. To report an outage, call (800) 227-1302, text OUT to 352-493-2511, or use the CFEC Outage Center. Messages sent to a representative's number are not monitored around the clock and may not be seen outside business hours.
10. Changing your mobile number
If you change or disconnect your mobile number, notify CFEC so that messages are not sent to a number that is no longer yours. Call (352) 493-2511 or log in to the CFEC Member Portal at billing.cfec.com/mcp/.
11. Privacy
Information you provide when you enroll is handled in accordance with the CFEC Privacy Policy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors that support this messaging program (such as the messaging platform provider) is permitted solely to deliver service. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. If a change materially affects how we use your mobile number, we will notify enrolled members before it takes effect.
